REMINDER: The Island gathering scheduled for MARCH 11th at the Fanny Bay Community Hall. A Registration form is attached to this message. It is important to get your registration in as soon as possible to help with the planning for food, coffee, seating etc. The planning groups is putting together a very exciting program that I am sure you will all enjoy.
The 2017 stride walk main weekend is June 10 – 11 but walks may also be held on the weekends of June 3-4; and June 17-18. To participate in the group insurance coverage through the SLF groups must hold their walks on one of the official weekends. The online registration page is now open at: www.stridetoturnthetide.ca . If you require further information from the SLF office please contact Asmita, the Stride Coordinator at the SLF office.
There will be information regarding the “virtual” stride walk should be available in the near future. In may be worthwhile for groups to considering working together on a walk for 2017. The Regional Gathering would be a good time to have some discussion with the groups.
. 2. Aeroplan Mile Matching Week
Aeroplan miles are essential to the work done at The Stephen Lewis Foundation and within the Grandmothers Campaign. These miles make it possible for African Grandmothers to travel to Canada, enable the field representatives to visit community based projects and allow the community-based workers to travel and build unified networks across Africa. To date, Aeroplan and its members have contributed more that 65 million miles to the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Each year the foundation has a week where every mile donated will be matched by Aeroplan. This year February 27 – March 5th is the Foundation’s Aeroplan

The Oceanside Grandmothers are having an exciting event on SUNDAY, MARCH 12
The Grandmothers to Grandmothers first event of 2017 is an Afternoon of Musical Theatre, Broadway & Beyond with the LINDEN SINGERS CHOIR, being held Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Knox United Church in Parksville; doors will open at 2:40pm with the performance at 3pm.
Tickets $15.00 @ the door, Cranky Dog in Parksville & Alcove in Qualicum Beach
The LINDEN SINGERS of Victoria are a vibrant, 50 member, mixed-voice, multi-generational, auditioned choir. The choir performs many styles of secular and sacred music with a diverse repertoire. The Linden Singers have been performing for over 35 years. Their Music Director, Brian Wismath, is an integral part of the Linden singers’ community. With his energy, focus and abilities, together, they create musical magic for their listeners.
Be sure to mark your calendar for this musical ‘Broadway’ experience.
The Victoria Grandmothers African Dinner is being held on Saturday, April 8th, 2017.
